HydraFacial Style

Everyone has been talking about HydraFacial, from celebrities to respected news reporters. HydraFacial has gotten so much press that I started thinking this is something that I have to try for myself, especially after I was told by my aesthetician at Derma Spa that HydraFacial studies show better results for diminishing fine lines and wrinkles than IPL laser. Below is a great video on this technology.

So, what is the HydraFacial? HydraFacial is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with no discomfort or downtime. The treatment is soothing, moisturizing, non-invasive and non-irritating. The HydraFacial™ treatment improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, congested and enlarged pores, oily or acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation and brown spots and is suitable for most skin types, including thin or aging skin, ethnic skin, and dry skin or oily skin. A series of treatments are recommended to obtain optimum results.

Derma Spa also offers the The HydraFacial™ Premier treatment  which includes the HydraFacial™ listed above and a derma builder serum (2 peptides) to reduce fine lines and/or wrinkles and red LED lights to reduce redness/ irritation from the treatment, increase micro-circulation, and stimulate collagen production.

hydraAbove pictures left to right, 1) Getting a HydraFacial treatment at Derma Spa from Elissa. 2) LED lights used to help reduce the redness from the treatment on my chest. 3) This is what I looked like right after the treatment without any makeup (I was very red and sensitive especially around the eyes). 4) The day after the HydraFacial treatment with only light mineral powder, mascara and a lip gloss – no redness but a little darkness around the eyes that has since disappeared.

For me, the HydraFacial wasn’t as relaxing as the peel/facial anti-aging combination that I have tried at Derma Spa. However, it was my first time getting a HydraFacial and I didn’t know what to expect. It felt like a very strong mircodermabrasion treatment and I was quite red after especially under the eyes and around the lip area. I know the HydraFacial creators say there is no downtown but personally I wouldn’t have been comfortable going out after the treatment even with full makeup. My face also felt very sensitive like I had a sunburn. I was pleasantly surprised that the redness and sensitivity was gone the next day.

Two things I noticed right away was a reduction in clogged pores and blackheads especially around the nose area. The fine lines and wrinkles on my face and chest were diminished as well just after 1 treatment.

This is a yes treatment for me and I will definitely be getting more in the future.
